Dear Lion,

It is pleasing to note that membership of our District has risen to 1,165, a net increase of 42 members since 1 July 2020, and continuing to rise. Thank you to all those clubs who are actively recruiting new members. All clubs are back to normal operations following the removal of most Covid 19 restrictions.

The coming four months are going to be very active ones for our members, starting with Lions Awareness Day on 6 March, our Diabetes Awareness Project in 10 regional towns between the end of March and mid-June, the MD National Convention in Canberra in May, the virtual international convention of Lions in June, the election of new office bearers for our clubs for 2021/22, the Youth of the Year district and state finals, and the many fundraising and service activities of individual clubs. This is great to see following the interruption to our programs in 2020 due to Covid 19.

I am enjoying my visits to clubs and looking forward to my visit to Eyre Peninsula to visit five clubs in conjunction with two diabetes awareness events at the end of April. It is good to see more of the splendid work being done by our clubs for their communities.

I commend the new RV Park opened and operated by the Mallala & Districts Lions Club for their community, just one more example of what lions can accomplish.

The diabetes awareness project, in conjunction with Diabetes SA, promises to be an outstanding project for our district that should assist our organisation in heralding the good work being done by Lions in our communities.
Stay safe and healthy as you continue to serve our communities.

Yours in Lionism
Tony Pederick OAM
