Inspiring National Convention in Adelaide

Lions Australia 74th National Convention 2026

Lions District 201C1 was honoured to host the 74th Lions Australia MD 201 Convention in Adelaide from 22–25 May 2026, an inspiring national convention, welcoming Lions, Leos, partners and guests from across Australia and overseas for four unforgettable days of fellowship, learning, leadership and service.

Under the theme “Inspire Service – 2026 & Beyond”, the convention showcased the very best of Lionism and demonstrated the incredible impact that Lions and Leos continue to make in communities across Australia and around the world. Adelaide provided the perfect backdrop for this national gathering, with delegates experiencing South Australia’s renowned hospitality while reconnecting with friends, sharing ideas and celebrating service.

Service at the Heart of Convention

While conventions are often remembered for their speakers, workshops and social events, one of the most inspiring aspects of the Adelaide convention was the opportunity for delegates to roll up their sleeves and participate in meaningful hands-on service projects.

Throughout the convention, Lions and Leos worked together to support three outstanding organisations and initiatives: the Hutt St Centre, Lions Assistance Dogs and the Hear Me Roar! Project. Delegates assembled and created practical items that will directly benefit vulnerable South Australians, people experiencing hardship and those living with disability.

The service project area was constantly buzzing with activity as members embraced the opportunity to put the Lions motto, We Serve, into action. It was a powerful reminder that service remains at the heart of everything we do, and many delegates described the projects as one of the most rewarding experiences of the entire convention.

The support provided to these organisations and projects will continue to make a difference long after delegates have returned home, leaving a lasting legacy from the 2026 National Convention.

Inspiring Speakers and Powerful Stories

The convention featured an exceptional lineup of keynote speakers and presenters who challenged, educated and inspired delegates.

Highlights included addresses from Lions International Third Vice President Tony Benbow OAM, Affiliate Professor Jordan Hansford from SAHMRI, Hutt St Centre CEO Chris Burns CSC, business and community leader Amy Grantham, Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation Director Jarrod Kreft, and Lions Assistance Dogs CEO David Horne. Each speaker brought unique insights into leadership, service, community impact and the opportunities that exist when passionate people come together to create change.

Their stories reinforced the importance of Lions’ work and inspired delegates to continue expanding the impact of their clubs and projects throughout Australia.

Celebrating Youth Leadership

Among the many highlights of the convention were the National Finals of the Youth of the Year and Leo of the Year competitions.

These prestigious events showcased some of Australia’s most outstanding young leaders, demonstrating the confidence, leadership skills, community involvement and passion that give us great confidence in the future.

Delegates were inspired by the calibre of the finalists, whose achievements and aspirations reflected the values of service, citizenship and leadership that Lions seeks to nurture in young people. The competitions once again highlighted the importance of Lions youth programs and the significant role they play in developing tomorrow’s leaders.

Lions, Leos & Legends Under Lights

A standout social highlight of the convention was the spectacular “Lions, Leos & Legends Under Lights” convention dinner held at the iconic Adelaide Oval.

With breathtaking views across the famous sporting venue, delegates gathered for an evening of celebration, friendship and entertainment. The atmosphere was electric as Lions and Leos from across Australia came together to share stories, celebrate achievements and enjoy one of the country’s most iconic event locations.

The dinner perfectly captured the spirit of the convention, bringing people together, strengthening friendships and celebrating the extraordinary contribution that Lions and Leos make to communities every day.

A Convention to Remember

Hosting a national convention is a significant undertaking, and District 201C1 extends its heartfelt thanks to the Convention Committee, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and supporters who helped make the event such a success.

Most importantly, we thank every Lion, Leo and guest who travelled to Adelaide and contributed to the incredible atmosphere throughout the four days. Your enthusiasm, participation and commitment to service helped create an event that will be remembered for many years to come.

The 2026 Lions Australia National Convention demonstrated the power of service, the strength of friendship and the difference that can be achieved when Lions unite behind a common purpose.

As delegates returned home inspired and energised, they carried with them new ideas, new friendships and a renewed commitment to serving their communities.

Our District is immensely proud to have hosted this remarkable event and to have showcased South Australia, our projects, our people and our passion for service to the wider Lions family.

Together, we truly inspired service — for 2026 and beyond.
