Welcome to our Lions Clubs International 201 C1 District website, and thank you for visiting. I am Steve Fawcett, the current District Governor for this remarkable District we call 201 C1.

About DG Steve
Lion Steve and Lion Anne-Marie were born and raised in Adelaide. They have spent the last 34 years living in country South Australia including 10 years in Mount Gambier. The family moved to Port Augusta in 2000 through Steve’s employment. They have 2 children, Jessica and William, who both live in Port Augusta with their partners, Travis and Mel. They have also been blessed with 7 Grandkids, including Lexie, Adylyn, Chase and Lewis. Kiesha, Amber and Toby. They all affectionately call Steve “Grumpy”.
Steve has a long-established history of service in his community, being a member of APEX then later joining the Port Augusta Lions Club where he and Anne-Marie have been members since 2016. At the District level, Steve has been a Zone Chairperson in 2019-2022 and Global Services Team Coordinator (GST) in 2020-2022. Anne-Marie is a health professional working with Pika Wiya Aboriginal Health Service. Anne–Marie is currently the Zone 8 Chairperson and Secretary of the Lions Club of Port Augusta for the last 3 years.
Steve has strong leadership skills, demonstrated by his work history and skills. He has an extensive background in training, education and community development. Starting as a fitter & turner, then toolmaker, Steve then joined TAFESA in the Mechanical Engineering School where Steve lectured then became an Educational Manager for Engineering, Mining, Civil and Geo Science programs. Steve has his own Aviation and Mechanical Maintenance business which demonstrates his organisational skills. Interests include community development, and, as such, has been an active charter member of the Australian Learning Communities Network since 2001 including many years on the Executive and terms as Chairperson. From 1992–2017, Steve was involved with World Skills Australia (as a state participant in 1981), then Regional Judge, and National Judge and National Project Designer.
Steve holds the following qualifications:
Associate Diploma – Mechanical Engineering (TAFE SA)
Bachelor of Teaching – Education and Training of Adults (UNI SA)
Bachelor of Education – Education and Training of Adults (UNI SA)
Master of Education (RMIT)
He is an Alumni of the University of South Australia and the RMIT University.
He enjoys flying his own plane, when time permits.
