District Governor

From Our District Governor

Welcome to our Lions 201 C1 District website, and thank you for visiting. I am Peter Korndorfer, the current District Governor for this amazing District we call 201C 1.

Lions is so much more than just like-minded people willing to change the World for the better. Lions is about people and communities and how we can help develop those to be the best they can. As you navigate through our website, you will see just how far reaching and varied our service initiatives are. This is the beauty of Lions, if have a passion and are willing to make an impact then there will be a Club and Service activity for you, and if there isn’t a project that suits you, “Why not start you own” with the help of your local Club.

We, as individuals, clubs, and our International Organisation also, build and grow our members, we develop Leaders, people able to work as Team members, Event organisers and Project Management.

As you’ll discover, there are numerous Foundations which help us Lions do more for our communities and those in need. From hearing dogs to Childhood Cancer research, Children’s mobility devices, Lions Eye health Program and so many more.

Enjoy your journey of discovery about Lions as you have a look through this webpage, I hope you feel inspired by what you see and that it will develop an appetite to help your community and those in need. Don’t hesitate to contact your local club, you’ll find one near you on this webpage, to see how you can help us Lions out and possibly join our Pride.,

About DG Peter

My partner Megan Butler and I met through Lions when I joined in 2013. We have 5 children and 7 grandchildren between us and enjoy the times we can spend with them which is sometimes a little difficult as they are spread between Adelaide, the Riverland, and Darwin, hence our frequent trips interstate to visit grandchildren.

Born in Prospect to immigrant parents and lived my first 3 years in Modbury before moving to Germany for a period of 9 years then returning to Australia at the age of 12. Living in Holden Hill with my parents I attended Gilles Plains High School completing year 11 and joining the Royal Australian Airforce at the age of 16 as an Aircraft Electrical Apprentice, the start of a 25-year Military career. I held various employment positions such as Avionics Technician, Workplace Assessor and Trainer, Configuration Manager, Data Manager, Modification Design Engineer, Project Scheduler, Project Cost Analyst and Project Manager. Post Airforce I have been employed within Defence Industry, firstly with Airbus, QinetiQ and now supporting Asset Management for ASC.

I have been on several Boards through my professional life, with 4 years on the Northern Adelaide Senior College Governing Council, 2 of which as Chairperson.

I am a professional Member of both Australian Institute of Project Managers (AIPM) and of the Institute of Managers and Leaders (IML). As part of IML I take great delight in being involved in their national Mentoring Program aiding in developing future Leaders. This, including my Lions training, gives me invaluable experience and knowledge to help train, develop and mentor members of our District to be the best they can be and develop our future Leaders.

My philosophy for Leadership is to Empower, Enable, Encourage and develop a team culture and the team members, to listen to understand, with the ability to show empathy towards my fellow Lions.
