On Sunday 28th October 2018 the West Beach Lions and Fulham Riverside Lions Club Branch hosted, on behalf of C1 District, a Women in Lions Forum. It was held at the Airport Over 50’s Club at Fulham and was attended by 40 plus people. The five guest speakers were the Adelaide Lady Mayoress, Genevieve Theseira-Haese, Member for King, Paula Luethen, PDG Carlene King OAM, 1st Vice President Petrea Stacey and PDG Ken Bradford.
Each speaker told their story of influential women, how they have been empowered to achieve their goals, the history of women in Lions since 1987 and what has been achieved by being a Lion member and how this has helped them grow as a woman and as a leader.
The message that women can be empowered by being a Lion member to achieve their goals was very strong. There were some participants who were not Lion members and all expressed that they were inspired by the speakers. Three have now decided to join a Lions club and have been invited to attend a club meeting.
Everyone stayed for lunch at the conclusion and interacted with each other.
The day was a great success and with the PR trailer advertising Lions at the venue, this enhanced our presence in the area.
