Dear Lions,
It is pleasing to see our district starting to move forward as most clubs are now out of hibernation, despite Covid-19 restrictions that are still upon us.
Membership is increasing as many new members are being inducted in several of our clubs, both metropolitan and regional. It is imperative that this continues as the District strives to attain and exceed the magic number of 1,250 members.
It is disappointing that we are unable to have the District Convention due to the main venue at Peterborough being unavailable due to Council Covid-19 restrictions. We did try to move this to a neighbouring town, but the facilities were unsuitable.
In place of the convention, we will be having an annual general meeting at Port Pirie on Saturday, 17 October 2020, where elections for elected cabinet positions and notices of motion will take place.
We must maintain, at all times, a positive attitude to combat the various difficulties that these uncertain times challenge us with.
One of the most important things that Lions must continue to do is to respect the opinions of all Lions. When making decisions, keep in mind the interests of our individual Clubs, District and Lions Clubs International. At times, some decisions will be made at all levels of the organisation which we as individuals might disagree with, but the majority collective view of your Club, your District and Lions Clubs International must prevail and be fully supported.
All clubs are urged to have a Covid-19 Plan and to have appointed a Club Safety Officer/Covid Marshall.
Keep safe and I look forward to meeting many of you during my District Governor visits.
Tony Pederick OAM
District Governor
