Sea Rescue Opening

The Lions Clubs of Wallaroo, Bute, Kadina and Moonta combined, donated $15,000, with a matched $15,000 from The Australian Lions Foundation, toward the building of the new Copper Coast Flotilla of the South Australian Sea Rescue Squadron headquarters, with invited representatives attending the official opening, by Mr Rowan Ramsey MP, in March this year.

The 4 clubs worked tirelessly in fundraising for this build and our donation, we believe, was spent upstairs in the state of the art control room. Not only are the facilities up to date; the shed is purpose built, to house the vessel and tow vehicle safely and securely, with almost immediate access to the water. This, we were told, is vital in saving time, and potentially lives, when launching the boat in an emergency situation.

As anyone enjoying the pleasures of our beautiful gulf would attest, the Sea Rescue is a vital resource to ensure the safety of all water users. The Lions Club of Wallaroo is especially proud, alongside the clubs of Bute, Moonta and Kadina, to have been able to be involved in the building of this long term asset, situated in our town, for the benefit of our region, residents and visitors alike.
