Two Lions members from our district (201C1) were awarded OAM in the Australia Day awards listed in the Advertiser on Australia Day.
Lion Valerie Dix OAM (Glenside Lions) was recognised for the extensive work that she has done for the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation over a period of many years, most recently as chairman of the Foundation. Val has been SA/NT trustee for several years and has worked closely with Novita in supplying walkers and mobility aids to children with cerebral palsy. Congratulations Lion Vaal.
Lion Ron Duncan OAM (Stansbury Dalrymple) was recognised for the work that he has done for the community various organisations including Lions Club for over 40 years. Congratulations Lion Ron.
But wait, that’s not all—Lion Ron and Lion Chris Duncan were also Awarded Stansbury Citizen of the Year by the Stansbury Dalrymple Progress Association for their combined community work. They are both Elders of the Stansbury Uniting Church, both involved with Meals on Wheels, both are volunteers at the Visitor Information Centre, and are both members of Senior Citizens. Chris is currently the Secretary of the Lions Club and is involved with many other organisations. Ron was the inaugural Club President, has been president and board member of the bowls club, is a committee member of the Stansbury Museum, and instigator of the Christmas lights.

District Council of Mount Remarkable Citizen of the year Barry Graham. Booleroo Lions Club would like to congratulate Barry on his well earned award, as well as being a Lions member he is member of the Uniting Church, Booleroo Steam and Traction Preservation Society, Booleroo Men’s Shed, Life member of the Mt View Homes and many other local organisations.
